I would like to add just a bit more information, however. Ms. Vinge wrote two sequels. The first, called World's End, follows the exploits of a minor character in Snow Queen, and this character develops into the hero that most can identify with, and becomes a major player in the third book. The final book in the series is called The Summer Queen and describes the end of Tiamat's isolation, and the reestablishment of a certain important technology that died with the galactic civilization hundreds of years earlier. There is also an unknown prequel to World's End, a sliver of a book that can be thought of as a prologue to World's End, that I once picked up, but have lost track of. All of these books are high science fiction, and a worthy and intelligent read. I've come to expect nothing else from Ms. Vinge.John in Missourihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10869065546575339244noreply@blogger.com
